Global education seeks to prepare students to live in an increasingly globalised and interconnected world and to be active, participating citizens who make informed decisions and contribute to shaping a better future. Global education teaches students to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes enabling them to analyse issues with a global perspective. It also enables students reflect on their own world and be more critical of assumptions about patterns of behaviour and to take responsibility for their actions and participate in solutions to problems in their world.
The Global Education conference aims to provide teachers with information and teaching strategies to incorporate global and development perspectives in the classroom in all learning areas. Workshops are offered to assist teachers provide learning experiences for students to encourage them to think globally and fully understand the world in which they live.
The Global Education Project is part of the Geography Teachers' Association of Victoria Inc's 45th Annual Conference.
