Geoscience Australia

Geoscience Australia recalculated the length of Australia’s major rivers in 2008.  The results can be seen on their website at www.ga.gov.au/education/geoscience-basics/landforms/longest-rivers.jsp.  Note that in the table, the Darling River measures 1472 km, but when its major tributaries are taken into account, it measures 2844 km.  The Murray River was measured at 2375 km. An article about this was published in Interaction in March 2009 (Volume 37, no. 1, p 40).
