GTAV 2026 Annual Conference Early Career Teacher Bursaries

The GTAV is pleased to offer two (2) bursaries for early career teachers to attend the 2026 GTAV Annual Conference. 

 

What does the bursary cover? 

For successful applicants, the bursary will cover the registration fee for either Fieldwork Day (Thursday 13 August) or Conference Day (Friday 14 August).

Who can apply?

Applications must be: 

  • A current GTAV member who have renewed for 2026

  • Employed as a Geography teachers in Victoria and currently teaching

  • Within your first five (5) years of teaching

 

Applications will be shortlisted by a GTAV selection team, winners will be notified via email. 

Applications close on Friday 10 July at 5pm. Successful applicants will be notified by no later than 22 July to be able to secure their registration to the conference. Enquires can be addressed to Danielle Davis via [email protected] 

Recipients are required to submit a short report to GTAV outlining the key insights and professional learning gained through attendance at the conference. The report should also including teaching activity and/or classroom resource inspired by the conference that is suitable for classroom implementation. This contribution is intended to support the wider Geography teaching community and may be published in Interaction Journal. Reports should be between 200 - 500 words in length.

GTAV Bursary to Attend the AGTA 2026 Conference 

The GTAV is excited to offer two (2) bursaries for educators: one for a Rural/Regional teacher, and another for an Early Career Teacher (up to 5 years experience) to attend the Biennial Conference of the Australian Geography Teachers Assocation (AGTA) which will be hosted in Canberra on 30 September - 2 October. 

What does the bursary cover? 

For successful applicants, the bursary will cover conference registration fees (to the value of $970). Please note that the recipients will be responsible for their own travel costs including flights and accommodation requirements. 

Who can apply?

Applications must be: 

  • Current GTAV members who have renewed for 2026
  • Employed Geography teachers in Victoria
  • Applicants who have never previously attended an AGTA Conference 
  • Rural and Regional teachers from Victoria or Early Career Teachers (up to 5 years experience)
