Session Overview:
How do we help students move beyond memorising case studies to genuinely understanding environmental change and management?

In this interactive professional learning session, Saurabh Mishra OAM will demonstrate how live, curriculum-aligned virtual journeys can immerse students in one of the world’s most iconic ecosystems: Kenya’s Maasai Mara. Participants will explore how real-time engagement with local guides and conservation professionals brings concepts such as biodiversity, tourism, conservation, land use conflict and sustainability to life in ways that traditional resources cannot.

The session will include a demonstration of Vyatra’s live learning model, practical ideas for integrating virtual field experiences into existing units of work, and discussion of student engagement and learning outcomes from Australian classrooms. Teachers will leave with new ideas for creating authentic geographical inquiry while remaining within a normal classroom period.

The session will be recorded and be made available to all registrants within 48 hours after the event with the presenter slides.
